“...may our daughters be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace.”
-Psalm 144:12

For my Mother$...

I wrote this piece with my mom in mind. When I decided to speak it, I kept all the mothers in mind. For generations we have set the tone for the next. We found strength somewhere in our body to carry and endure motherhood. The process is beautiful, BUT with God it's even more breathtaking! To all the mothers......U R created for this purpose, set the tone for the next generations. -$

"For what we do in moderation our children will do in excess!"

For 9 months I was carried
Soft whispers gracing the forthcoming of what can be scary
But you loved me before you knew me
Set the tone for the unknown
My own mother Mary
Covered in you, loved by you, taken in by you
You are the starting point to who I am
You are the natural, in it's natural, captured beautifully in the natural
Brown skin woman.
Poised with grace and feistiness
Mastering the art of strength
Leading in your own lane
I seen your heart in all forms
As a mother I feel all your emotions.
As a woman I see all your frustrations.
As a godly woman I believe all your passions.
Paving the road in your own fashion
More or less things you would change
But that's minor.
You gave me room to grown.
That's major.
How could I ever repay such a favor?
You succeed in showing strength.
You succeed in showing up.
You succeed in not giving up.
You succeed in loving much.
Motherhood gives you no choice, but
"Her children arise and call her blessed......" (Proverbs 31:28)
That's the success.
That's what they call goals!
The more that I grow, I see you in myself.
The more you grow, I see God in yourself.
"Blessed are you among woman, and bless is the child you will bear....." (Luke 1:42)
Forthcoming what is scary
My own mother Sarah.
Bearing life.
Breathing twice.
Out of your comfort zone but you make it look just right.
For my mothers!
Generations will call you blessed
Set the tone for the unknown
Mastering the art of making anything feel like a home.
Your past will be an uproar
But you soar
Your past will be forgiven
Thank God!
We are not defined by our faults.
We are merely just daughters to mothers,
Who become mothers to daughters
All teachings of life, that you work is not in vain.
I feel your struggle
Thank God for the pain.

"You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and you wove them all together in my mother's womb." -Psalm 139:13
